The Opportunity:
As the Subject Leader of Sociology, you will play a key role in developing and expanding the A Level Sociology provision for Years 12 and 13. This is a temporary, full-time opportunity that offers the chance to lead a subject team and drive academic excellence in a supportive and innovative school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Sociology department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies and curriculum content.
- Support and mentor colleagues within the department to enhance student outcomes.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
- Work closely with the Post 16 team to strengthen and expand A Level provision.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school-wide objectives.
- Promote a culture of continuous professional development and staff collaboration.
- Ensure effective communication and coordination with other departments and stakeholders.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with relevant experience in Sociology at Key Stage 5.
- Proven leadership experience in a school or college setting.
- Strong commitment to academic excellence and student achievement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and support colleagues effectively.
Preferred
- Experience in developing and leading a subject department.
- Familiarity with A Level Sociology curriculum and assessment requirements.
- Experience with data analysis and student progress tracking.
- Knowledge of innovative teaching and learning strategies.
- Experience in managing a team and driving improvement initiatives.
