The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Teacher Librarian to support the development of literacy, research skills, and a love of reading in a dynamic secondary school setting. This role is central to fostering a culture of inquiry and intellectual curiosity among students in the English International Stream.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a vibrant library environment that exposes students to a wide range of genres, authors, and cultures
  • Support the development of academic research and information literacy skills across the secondary school curriculum
  • Collaborate with faculty and school leadership to integrate library resources into teaching and learning
  • Create a welcoming, safe, and stimulating learning space that encourages student engagement and exploration
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons on research methodologies and information retrieval strategies
  • Model effective use of information systems and emerging learning technologies in teaching and learning
  • Manage and lead library staff, providing training, monitoring, and professional development support
  • Ensure the library evolves into a dynamic academic learning hub that meets the needs of all learners

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience in developing and maintaining a vibrant and inclusive library environment
  • Ability to create a safe, welcoming, and stimulating learning space for students
  • Strategic vision for the long-term development of the library as an academic hub
  • Experience in collaborating with stakeholders to support a shared learning environment
  • Experience in using information systems and learning technologies to enhance teaching and learning
  • Ability to deliver engaging lessons on research, critical thinking, and information retrieval
  • Excellent communication skills in English, with a proficiency in German or willingness to learn

Preferred

  • Experience in managing and leading library staff
  • Strong knowledge of research methodologies and information literacy
  • Experience in planning and delivering professional development for library staff
  • Demonstrated commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
