Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality English lessons across KS3 to KS5, including A-level groups.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that promotes student progress and aspiration.
  • Work collaboratively with the English department to share best practices and enhance pedagogy.
  • Support students in achieving their full potential through effective teaching and pastoral care.
  • Monitor and assess student progress to ensure all learners make excellent progress.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school through extracurricular activities and professional development.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and planning sessions to maintain high standards of teaching.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
  • Proven experience teaching English at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Experience of teaching A-level English.
  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for English.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred

  • Experience of leading or contributing to curriculum development.
  • Experience with teaching English as a second language.
  • Experience of working in a multi-academy trust or similar setting.
  • Experience of delivering professional development sessions or mentoring other teachers.
