The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant and OPAL Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning, as well as leading the OPAL Primary Programme. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young learners and contribute to a dynamic, child-centred environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teachers and pupils in learning activities during the school day, including short-term cover of classes.
  • Lead and manage a team of lunchtime supervisory staff.
  • Implement and promote the Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) Primary Programme to enhance student engagement and development through play.
  • Communicate effectively with pupils, staff, and parents to ensure a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Multi-task and prioritise in a busy environment, using initiative to be proactive in daily responsibilities.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of school facilities both indoors and outdoors.
  • Foster a creative and stimulating learning environment that encourages curiosity and exploration.
  • Work collaboratively with staff to support the school’s educational goals and values.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Minimum Level 3 childcare qualification.
  • Experience working with pupils in the primary phase.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
  • Confidence in multi-tasking and prioritising in a busy environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with the OPAL Primary Programme or similar outdoor learning initiatives.
  • Knowledge of child development and play-based learning strategies.
  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Passion for working with young children and supporting their learning and development.
