The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. You will help them learn, build confidence, and achieve their potential through small, meaningful victories.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in the classroom by assisting with learning and behaviour management
  • Work closely with teachers and therapists to provide individualised support
  • Help students develop social, emotional, and academic skills
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Document student progress and communicate regularly with staff
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities
  • Assist with daily routines and activities that support student well-being
  • Encourage independence and self-esteem in students

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children and young people, ideally in a classroom setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude
  • Commitment to supporting students with special educational needs
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow school policies

Preferred

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role
  • Knowledge of Autistic Spectrum Disorder and SEMH needs
  • Experience with behaviour management strategies
  • Familiarity with educational support frameworks and techniques
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment
