Summary:

Teaching Assistant role with a focus on supporting children with SEMH and ASD needs.

The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and those on the Autistic Spectrum. You will help them learn, develop their abilities, and build confidence. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and those on the Autistic Spectrum in the classroom
  • Assist teachers with lesson planning, preparation, and delivery
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage student engagement
  • Work closely with therapists and other support staff to meet individual student needs
  • Monitor and report on student progress and well-being
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Provide one-to-one support where needed
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs or on the Autistic Spectrum
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to supporting student learning and development
  • Resilience and dedication to the role

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a classroom or educational setting
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language
  • Training in special educational needs or child development
  • Familiarity with behaviour management strategies
