The Opportunity:

A Teaching Assistant is needed to provide essential support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across a range of learning environments. This role is vital in helping students achieve their full potential and contribute to an inclusive and supportive school culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support individuals and small groups of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) through tailored interventions and learning activities.
  • Build positive relationships with students, promoting independence, self-esteem, and resilience.
  • Implement personalised support plans, including IEPs, Pupil Profiles, and behaviour plans, under the guidance of the SENDCo and teaching staff.
  • Assist in planning, preparing, and adapting learning resources to meet diverse student needs.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and support both in and out of the classroom, including 1:1 and flexible support.
  • Supervise students during structured activities, breaks, lunchtimes, and educational visits.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions, providing feedback to teaching staff and professionals.
  • Promote the use of ICT to enhance learning and support student engagement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and equality.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work both in and out of the classroom.

Preferred

  • Experience in delivering targeted interventions or support plans.
  • Knowledge of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Experience with ICT and learning technologies.
  • Previous experience in a school or educational setting.
