Summary:

Teaching Assistant opportunity with a school offering a 4-day working week and full-time pay.

The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with autism and additional needs. This is a chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children while enjoying the benefits of a 4-day working week and full-time pay.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the teaching and learning of pupils under the guidance of class teachers and the SENCO
  • Provide 1:1 or small group support for pupils with autism and additional learning needs
  • Prepare and organise classroom resources and learning materials
  • Help maintain a calm, orderly and inclusive classroom environment
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional and physical development
  • Assist with curricular and extra-curricular activities, including outdoor learning and off-site trips
  • Monitor pupil progress and behaviour, feeding back to teaching staff
  • Encourage positive behaviour, independence and active engagement in learning

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in an educational, childcare, or SEN setting
  • Full UK driving licence
  • A genuine interest in supporting children and young people with autism and complex needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond positively to challenging behaviour
  • A team player with a collaborative mindset and a willingness to learn

Preferred

  • Experience working with children with autism
  • Experience with 1:1 support
  • Experience with outdoor learning and off-site activities
  • Knowledge of special educational needs and inclusive teaching practices
