Summary:

Teaching Assistant opportunity at a specialist school supporting students with SEMH needs.

A school located in a peaceful rural setting, providing specialist education and care to students aged 11-19 with a wide range of social, emotional, and mental health needs.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students with complex needs across all key stages. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on young people's lives while working in a supportive and nurturing environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in assisting with learning and behaviour support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with their learning and behaviour across all key stages
  • Assist in developing positive relationships with students and acting as a role model
  • Provide individualised support tailored to students’ specific needs
  • Work closely with teaching staff to ensure consistent and effective support strategies
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of behaviour management plans
  • Promote emotional and social development through structured activities
  • Ensure a safe and secure learning environment for all students
  • Assist with off-site activities where required, including travel to residential homes and The HUB

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children and young people, ideally in a specialist educational setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Preferred

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant
  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs, ADHD, ASD, or other complex needs
  • Knowledge of teaching strategies for students with additional needs
  • Experience with behaviour management and positive reinforcement techniques
  • Experience in a residential or specialist care setting
