Summary:

Teaching Assistant role with flexible working hours and a supportive school environment.

About the School:

A school dedicated to supporting autistic children aged 4 to 11 with additional needs. It offers a high-quality, individualised education in a refurbished Grade 2 Listed building.

The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting students with autism and additional needs. You’ll help create engaging learning experiences and foster independence, confidence, and personal growth in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils’ learning and personal development through creative and engaging activities.
  • Assist in preparing and delivering lessons that promote curiosity and confidence.
  • Provide emotional and practical support to help pupils overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and social interaction through empathy and consistency.
  • Participate in outdoor learning, enrichment activities, and community experiences.
  • Collaborate with teachers and therapists to tailor support to individual needs.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture by working as part of a passionate, supportive team.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a special needs or SEN environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and colleagues.
  • Patience, adaptability, and a positive attitude towards challenges.
  • Commitment to supporting the development of pupils with autism and additional needs.

Preferred

  • Experience with outdoor learning or enrichment activities.
  • Knowledge of autism and special educational needs.
  • Experience working in a 4-day working week model.
