The Opportunity:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide one-to-one support to autistic learners, helping them access the curriculum and develop independence and self-esteem through community-based activities. This is a full-time, permanent role that plays a vital role in empowering young people to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support learners on a 1:1 basis to access the curriculum and develop life skills.
- Promote independence and self-esteem through community-led activities.
- Work closely with teaching staff and other support professionals to tailor learning experiences.
- Assist in creating a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
- Monitor and report on learner progress and development.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with parents and carers to support learners’ individual needs.
- Ensure all activities are carried out in line with the school’s values and safeguarding policies.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with autistic young people or individuals with special educational needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing situations.
- Commitment to the school’s values and mission.
- Valid UK work permit (no visa sponsorship available).
Preferred
- Experience in education or a related field.
- Knowledge of autism and person-centred approaches.
- Experience with behaviour support strategies.
- Previous teaching or support assistant experience.
- Understanding of sensory needs and inclusive practices.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of £25,837 to £27,165 based on experience.
- Term-time only role with pay across 52 weeks.
