The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students with SEMH and related needs. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a supportive, collaborative environment and is committed to making a meaningful impact on young people’s lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in a classroom setting, adapting practices to meet individual needs.
  • Assist with lesson planning and delivery under the guidance of teachers.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students requiring additional help.
  • Promote positive behavior and emotional well-being in the classroom.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure a consistent approach to student care.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavior.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Previous experience supporting in a classroom setting.
  • Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) relevant to teaching and learning.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing situations.

Preferred

  • Experience working with students with SEMH or autism spectrum conditions.
  • Knowledge of behavior management strategies.
  • Experience with teaching English as a second language.
  • Previous experience in a specialist educational setting.
