Teaching Assistant job opportunity with a focus on supporting students in a specialist educational environment.

The Opportunity:

A Teaching Assistant is needed to support students across all key stages, working closely with class teachers to assist with learning, behaviour, and individual needs. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support class teachers in delivering lessons and managing classroom activities
  • Assist students with their learning and provide one-on-one support where needed
  • Help maintain a positive and structured learning environment
  • Monitor and support student behaviour, ensuring adherence to school policies
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students and colleagues
  • Participate in planning and delivering therapeutic and creative activities
  • Support students with additional learning needs and special educational requirements
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of individual education plans

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a teaching or support role, preferably in a specialist educational setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing situations
  • Commitment to working with young people with complex needs
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Right to work in the UK

Preferred

  • Experience in working with students with behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties
  • Knowledge of the Curriculum for Wales (CfW)
  • Experience in therapeutic or creative interventions
  • Previous experience in a residential or pastoral care setting
  • Experience with additional learning needs (ALN) and special educational requirements
