Teaching Assistant role at a specialist school supporting autistic children and young people.

The Opportunity:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support autistic pupils on a 1:1 basis, helping them access the curriculum and develop independence and self-esteem. This is a meaningful role that makes a real difference in the lives of young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support autistic pupils in accessing the curriculum through individualised learning programmes.
- Encourage independence and self-esteem through classroom learning and community-based activities.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of educators and specialists to deliver tailored support.
- Assist in creating and maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Promote the school’s core values of being safe, making responsible choices, and doing your best.
- Participate in educational trips and community activities that enhance the learning experience.
- Collaborate with parents, carers, and external organisations to support pupils’ development and transitions.
- Document progress and provide regular feedback to ensure consistent support and improvement.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with autistic children or young people.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to supporting the individual needs of pupils.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic and supportive environment.
- Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from teachers and support staff.
Preferred
- Experience in education or a related field.
- Knowledge of autism-specific teaching strategies.
- Experience with behaviour support and positive reinforcement techniques.
- Previous experience in a school or educational setting.
- Familiarity with the Ambitious Approach to education.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of £26,638 to £28,005 (paid across 52 weeks).
