The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with their learning, behaviour, and overall development. You will work closely with teaching staff to create a positive and inclusive environment that encourages engagement and achievement. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teaching staff in preparing classrooms and resources for lessons and activities.
  • Support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) through tailored interventions and individual learning plans.
  • Supervise pupils during lessons and provide support where necessary, ensuring a safe and structured learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate records, including taking registers and reporting on pupil progress and behaviour.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues to support the school’s values and ethos.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of lessons, including adapting activities to meet individual learning needs.
  • Provide pastoral support and guidance to pupils, promoting positive behaviour and social development.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, other TAs, and the SENCO to ensure effective support and intervention strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with young people, particularly those with social, emotional, or behavioural challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of inclusive education and the needs of pupils with SEND.
  • Basic knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting, ideally in a specialist or inclusive environment.
  • Familiarity with the use of ICT and assistive technologies in teaching and learning.
  • Experience in developing and implementing individual learning plans.
  • Training in supporting pupils with SEND or behaviour management.
