Summary:

Teaching Assistant opportunity at a special school supporting students with learning difficulties.

A school dedicated to students with complex learning difficulties, offering small class sizes and personalized learning. It is a hub for Moderate Learning Difficulties provision in Peterborough.

The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support students with learning difficulties in a dynamic and growing environment. Your role will be vital in helping students achieve their full potential and meet the high standards of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with complex learning difficulties in a structured and inclusive environment.
  • Assist in the delivery of individualized learning plans tailored to each student’s needs.
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to ensure a consistent and effective approach to student care.
  • Promote positive behavior and encourage student engagement in learning activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with staff.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to develop professional skills.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students with varying abilities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A good understanding of SEND education principles or a willingness to learn and develop in this area.
  • Experience working with students with learning difficulties or special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude towards teaching and student support.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from senior staff.

Preferred

  • Experience in a special needs or inclusive education setting.
  • Knowledge of Education, Healthcare Plans (EHCP) and their implementation.
  • Experience with behaviour management strategies for students with complex needs.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
