Summary:

Teaching Assistant opportunity at a brand-new specialist school in Reading. Support students with autism and learning needs.

A brand-new specialist and therapeutic provision supporting young people aged 5 -16 with autism spectrum conditions, severe to moderate learning difficulties and complex needs. The school is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and individualised learning environment.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join our growing team and support students with autism and complex needs. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new school and contribute to shaping its future. You will play a vital role in ensuring students receive the support they need to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teachers in delivering purposeful and meaningful educational experiences for students with autism and learning difficulties.
  • Assist with the management of positive behaviour and implement tailored approaches to individual student needs.
  • Promote the welfare and safeguarding of students in accordance with school policies.
  • Collaborate with the education team to ensure the smooth running of classes and school activities.
  • Contribute to the development and growth of the school as it expands its provision.
  • Provide one-to-one and group support to students in line with their individual education plans.
  • Assist with administrative and organisational tasks as required.
  • Work flexibly and adapt to the needs of the school and its students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A good standard of English and Maths, with strong communication skills.
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.
  • Experience in managing behaviour, including behaviour that challenges.
  • Experience working within an educational setting.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Relevant experience working with students with autism and learning difficulties.
  • Experience in a multi-cultural and inclusive environment.
  • Knowledge of specialist education provision and therapeutic support.
  • Experience with teaching assistants or support roles in schools.
  • Confidence in using ICT and digital tools for teaching and learning.
