The Opportunity:

A Teaching Assistant is needed to support students with specific learning needs, social, emotional, and mental health challenges, and engagement needs. This role plays a vital part in helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential within Key Stage 3 & 4.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with specific learning needs, social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
  • Provide classroom and pastoral support across various curriculum programmes.
  • Deliver targeted interventions to help students overcome learning barriers.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure consistent support for students.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Promote positive behaviour and a supportive learning environment.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of learning activities tailored to individual needs.
  • Contribute to the school’s vision of enabling all young people to thrive.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with students with specific learning needs or social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the school's vision and values.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Confidence in supporting student behaviour in a positive manner.
  • A proactive and positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
  • Knowledge of the school’s context and operations.

Preferred

  • Experience in a SEND department or similar setting.
  • Experience with behaviour management strategies.
  • Experience working within a Multi-Academy Trust.
  • A growth mindset and a commitment to continuous professional development.
