Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with special educational needs during lessons and therapeutic activities
- Assist teachers in delivering lessons and managing classroom behavior
- Help students develop social, emotional, and communication skills
- Work collaboratively with therapists and support staff to create individualized learning plans
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students as needed
- Monitor and report on student progress and behavior
- Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all students
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with children and young people with special educational needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from teachers and support staff
- Commitment to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of a diverse range of students
Preferred
- Previous experience in a classroom or educational support setting
- Knowledge of autism spectrum disorder or social, emotional, and mental health needs
- Experience with behavior management strategies
- Understanding of therapeutic activities and their role in student development
- Previous training in special education or child development
