As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping young people with special educational needs achieve their potential. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with special educational needs during lessons and therapeutic activities
  • Assist teachers in delivering lessons and managing classroom behavior
  • Help students develop social, emotional, and communication skills
  • Work collaboratively with therapists and support staff to create individualized learning plans
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students as needed
  • Monitor and report on student progress and behavior
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all students
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children and young people with special educational needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from teachers and support staff
  • Commitment to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of a diverse range of students

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a classroom or educational support setting
  • Knowledge of autism spectrum disorder or social, emotional, and mental health needs
  • Experience with behavior management strategies
  • Understanding of therapeutic activities and their role in student development
  • Previous training in special education or child development
