The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support the delivery of the curriculum and provide essential in-session and 1:1 support to students. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of curriculum sessions and provide individualized assistance to students.
  • Implement strategies from students’ Positive Behaviour Support Plans to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers to follow session plans and report on student progress.
  • Develop and prepare learning resources tailored to students’ communication needs.
  • Support students in participating in enrichment activities and community-based learning.
  • Maintain consistent and positive interactions with students to encourage engagement and progress.
  • Assist in planning and organizing sessions in line with the school’s educational goals.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with young people, particularly those with autism or special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to promoting equality and inclusion.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic learning environment.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a special needs or autism setting.
  • Knowledge of teaching strategies for students with complex needs.
  • Experience in curriculum planning and resource development.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Training or experience in Positive Behaviour Support strategies.
