The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in a dedicated resource base, contributing to a broad and balanced curriculum. This is a rewarding role within a supportive environment, offering excellent professional development and training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in a structured and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist in delivering a curriculum tailored to the needs of children with additional support needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress in line with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP).
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Maintain a safe and stimulating environment for pupils, including the use of sensory and breakout spaces.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of Occupational Therapy (OT) and Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT) sessions where applicable.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) or other special educational needs (SEND).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to the needs of individual pupils.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children.
  • Previous experience in a primary school setting or similar educational environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP).
  • Knowledge of occupational therapy and speech and language therapy practices.
  • Experience in a multi-academy trust or similar educational structure.
  • Familiarity with sensory and breakout spaces in a learning environment.
