The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting young people with additional needs in a safe and nurturing environment. You will provide academic and vocational support, help students meet their personal development goals, and contribute to a positive and inclusive learning culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support young people in academic and vocational settings, including Bushcraft, animal care, and life skills.
  • Work alongside teaching staff to enhance learning and provide individualised support where needed.
  • Promote the welfare and safeguarding of all students at all times.
  • Implement positive behaviour strategies and adapt approaches to meet individual needs.
  • Accurately record all incidents, accidents, and health & safety documentation.
  • Assist students in participating in group activities, encouraging social interaction and friendships.
  • Help students identify and achieve their Education and Healthcare plan targets.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
  • Experience managing challenging behaviour and adapting responses to individual needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good numeracy, literacy, and ICT skills.
  • Willingness to work within the physical demands of the role.

Preferred

  • GCSE English and Maths qualification (minimum grade 4 or equivalent).
  • Experience in education or support roles, particularly with young people with additional needs.
  • Previous experience in safeguarding or working within a school environment.
