The Opportunity:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting young people with additional needs in a safe and nurturing environment. You will provide academic and vocational support, help students meet their personal development goals, and contribute to a positive and inclusive learning culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support young people in academic and vocational settings, including Bushcraft, animal care, and life skills.
- Work alongside teaching staff to enhance learning and provide individualised support where needed.
- Promote the welfare and safeguarding of all students at all times.
- Implement positive behaviour strategies and adapt approaches to meet individual needs.
- Accurately record all incidents, accidents, and health & safety documentation.
- Assist students in participating in group activities, encouraging social interaction and friendships.
- Help students identify and achieve their Education and Healthcare plan targets.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
- Experience managing challenging behaviour and adapting responses to individual needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good numeracy, literacy, and ICT skills.
- Willingness to work within the physical demands of the role.
Preferred
- GCSE English and Maths qualification (minimum grade 4 or equivalent).
- Experience in education or support roles, particularly with young people with additional needs.
- Previous experience in safeguarding or working within a school environment.
