The Opportunity:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting young people aged 11-16 in a safe and nurturing environment. You will assist with academic and vocational learning, including Bushcraft and life skills, while promoting positive behaviour and safeguarding student welfare.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support teaching staff in delivering learning and providing additional explanations to students.
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of all young people at all times.
- Assist students in meeting their Education and Healthcare plan targets.
- Implement and maintain positive behaviour strategies tailored to individual needs.
- Accurately record accidents, incidents, and health & safety documentation.
- Support students in participating in group activities, encouraging social interaction and friendships.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- GCSE English and Maths qualification (minimum grade 4 or equivalent).
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
- Commitment to putting young people first and treating them as individuals.
- Strong numeracy, literacy, and ICT skills.
- Willingness to work within the physical demands of the role.
Preferred
- Previous experience in education or care settings.
- Experience in managing challenging behaviours.
- Knowledge of supporting students with autism and associated conditions.
- Experience in vocational or life skills teaching.
