The Opportunity:
As a Teaching Assistant in Primary Education, you will play a vital role in supporting students with SEMH needs and associated challenging behaviours. This is a dynamic and impactful role that contributes to the academic and emotional growth of young people in a supportive and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with SEMH needs in a small class setting, up to 8 students.
- Assist in delivering a broad and balanced curriculum tailored to individual learning needs.
- Promote positive behaviour and foster a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Build strong, supportive relationships with students to encourage independence and personal development.
- Work closely with class teachers to provide differentiated educational activities and support.
- Implement strategies for positive behaviour management tailored to each child's needs.
- Support students with care needs when necessary, ensuring their wellbeing and safety.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- GCSE Maths and English Level 2/C or above qualification.
- Experience within an education setting.
- Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
- Commitment to working with students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
- Full clean driving licence.
Preferred
- Working towards Level 2 award in Support work in schools or an equivalent.
- Experience in working with students with complex needs in a school environment.
- Demonstrated ability to be positive and creative in meeting pupils’ needs.
