The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant in Primary Education, you will play a vital role in supporting students with SEMH needs and associated challenging behaviours. This is a dynamic and impactful role that contributes to the academic and emotional growth of young people in a supportive and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEMH needs in a small class setting, up to 8 students.
  • Assist in delivering a broad and balanced curriculum tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Promote positive behaviour and foster a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with students to encourage independence and personal development.
  • Work closely with class teachers to provide differentiated educational activities and support.
  • Implement strategies for positive behaviour management tailored to each child's needs.
  • Support students with care needs when necessary, ensuring their wellbeing and safety.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • GCSE Maths and English Level 2/C or above qualification.
  • Experience within an education setting.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • Commitment to working with students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Full clean driving licence.

Preferred

  • Working towards Level 2 award in Support work in schools or an equivalent.
  • Experience in working with students with complex needs in a school environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to be positive and creative in meeting pupils’ needs.
