The Opportunity:

Join a supportive team as a Teaching Assistant - SEN, making a meaningful impact on the lives of students aged 11–16 with Autism Spectrum Condition. This role is essential in helping students access the curriculum and achieve vocational qualifications in a safe, inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and safeguard student welfare in a nurturing environment
  • Assist with teaching and behaviour management in class
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students to support their emotional and academic development
  • Encourage independence and personal growth through tailored support
  • Help with lesson planning and preparation of resources
  • Contribute to the overall goals of the school when required
  • Engage in behaviour support strategies, including physical intervention if needed
  • Maintain accurate and timely reports on student progress

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs (paid or voluntary)
  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Knowledge of SEN, SEMH, or ASD

Preferred

  • Level 2+ qualification in Teaching & Learning Support
  • Experience with Team Teach physical intervention
  • Willingness to complete accurate, timely reports
  • Positive, creative mindset with a child-centred approach
