The Opportunity:
Join a supportive team as a Teaching Assistant - SEN, making a meaningful impact on the lives of students aged 11–16 with Autism Spectrum Condition. This role is essential in helping students access the curriculum and achieve vocational qualifications in a safe, inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and safeguard student welfare in a nurturing environment
- Assist with teaching and behaviour management in class
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students to support their emotional and academic development
- Encourage independence and personal growth through tailored support
- Help with lesson planning and preparation of resources
- Contribute to the overall goals of the school when required
- Engage in behaviour support strategies, including physical intervention if needed
- Maintain accurate and timely reports on student progress
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with students with special educational needs (paid or voluntary)
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Knowledge of SEN, SEMH, or ASD
Preferred
- Level 2+ qualification in Teaching & Learning Support
- Experience with Team Teach physical intervention
- Willingness to complete accurate, timely reports
- Positive, creative mindset with a child-centred approach
