The Opportunity:

Join a dedicated team at a special educational needs school as a Teaching Assistant SEN. This role is vital in supporting students with complex learning needs and ensuring they receive the highest quality of education and care. You will work closely with teachers and other professionals to help students achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching and learning by working with small groups of children under the supervision of the teacher.
  • Implement Individual Learning Plans and provide regular feedback on children’s progress.
  • Assist with the supervision of discreet groups of pupils when the teacher is not present.
  • Ensure all pupils have equal access to learning opportunities and support differences effectively.
  • Participate in training to develop learning strategies and support student progress.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development and performance management.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently in spoken English to support students and colleagues.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Level 2 or equivalent qualification in literacy and numeracy.
  • Basic knowledge of child development and learning.
  • Commitment to professional standards and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and build positive relationships with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.

Preferred

  • Experience working with children and young people with communication, severe, profound, or complex learning difficulties.
  • Previous experience in a special educational needs setting.
  • Experience with individual learning plans and student progress tracking.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive starting salary of £21,662 (full time equivalent £25,185).
  • Term time only with 35 hours per week plus 5 INSET days.
