Technical Instructor needed for a state-of-the-art Patrick Engineering Centre.

The Opportunity:

A Technical Instructor is needed to provide expert guidance and instruction in engineering and fabrication to students aged 11-18 in a modern, well-equipped workshop. This role is ideal for someone passionate about inspiring the next generation of engineers and makers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality instruction in engineering and fabrication during lesson times and practical sessions.
  • Support students in developing practical skills and theoretical knowledge in design and technology.
  • Maintain a safe and productive learning environment in the Patrick Engineering Centre.
  • Collaborate with department staff to enhance the curriculum and student experience.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to students during free time and extracurricular activities.
  • Stay up to date with industry developments and incorporate new techniques and technologies into teaching.
  • Assist with the maintenance and organization of workshop equipment and materials.
  • Participate in school events and contribute to the wider educational community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in engineering, fabrication, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with students of all ages.
  • Relevant technical qualifications or vocational training.
  • Experience working in a school or educational setting, preferably in a technical or practical role.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and part-time availability.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or delivering workshops in a school or college environment.
  • Knowledge of CAD software or other design and engineering tools.
  • Experience with curriculum development or assessment in design and technology.
  • Familiarity with STEM education and its integration into school programmes.
