The Opportunity:

As a Theatre Technician, you will provide essential technical support across a range of school events and productions. This role requires a hands-on, team-oriented individual who can manage lighting, sound, and AV systems while maintaining a high standard of performance and safety. The position is ideal for someone passionate about theatre and events, with a willingness to work flexibly across different departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in set construction and scenic work for school productions and events.
  • Operate and maintain lighting, sound, and AV equipment during performances and events.
  • Rig and plot technical elements for stage productions and school functions.
  • Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of theatre and AV equipment.
  • Support events across the school, including front of house and box office duties.
  • Collaborate with staff and students to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols during all technical operations.
  • Work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in theatre or event technical support.
  • Strong knowledge of lighting, sound, and AV systems.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive and proactive attitude, even during repetitive or physically demanding tasks.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and during school holidays.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Familiarity with stage management or production coordination.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience with set construction or scenic design.
