The Opportunity:

As a Theatre Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring that all productions, performances, and events are delivered to the highest standard. Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain lighting, sound, projection, rigging, and stage equipment during rehearsals, performances, and events.
  • Assist with the setup and strike of sets, props, and technical elements.
  • Provide AV and technical support for conferences, talks, and community events when required.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and report any hazards or malfunctions.
  • Carry out routine checks, maintenance, and repairs on technical equipment.
  • Maintain accurate inventories of technical stock and report any faults or shortages.
  • Collaborate with directors, designers, stage managers, and other technical staff to bring artistic visions to life.
  • Provide technical advice to visiting companies and support their requirements.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in theatre or live events, with knowledge of lighting, sound, AV, and stagecraft.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, cue sheets, and stage plots.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Knowledge and understanding of health and safety legislation relevant to theatre production.

Preferred

  • Qualification in Technical Theatre, Stage Management, or a related live events field.
  • Experience with digital lighting desks specifically ETC consoles, digital sound desks, and projection systems.
  • Knowledge of carpentry, rigging, and pyrotechnics.
  • First aid, manual handling, or working at heights training.
