The Opportunity:

As a Theatre Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the Performing Arts department by providing essential technical, organisational, and backstage support. You will help students and staff deliver high-quality performances and assessments, contributing to a vibrant and creative learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and operate lighting and sound equipment for performances and events.
  • Assist in the construction, adaptation, and creation of costumes, props, and sets.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient movement of scenery, equipment, and materials.
  • Support the setup and breakdown of stages and performance areas.
  • Collaborate with teachers, students, and other technicians to deliver successful productions.
  • Complete training in working at heights and manual handling where required.
  • Provide technical support during rehearsals, assessments, and external lettings.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised backstage environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proactive and organised individual with an interest in theatre and performance.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, moving scenery, and working at heights.
  • Willingness to complete training in manual handling and working at heights.
  • Commitment to supporting the Performing Arts department and its students.

Preferred

  • Experience in theatre or performance-related roles.
  • Knowledge of lighting and sound board operation.
  • Interest or experience in costume, prop, and set design.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and during college holidays where necessary.
