The Opportunity:
Join a dynamic Science department as a Trainee IT Teacher on a one-year pathway to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). You will gain hands-on teaching experience while studying for your qualification, supported by a dedicated mentor and a well-resourced department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging IT lessons to 16-to-19-year-old students on a reduced timetable.
- Participate in weekly training sessions at St Charles Borromeo Teaching Hub.
- Work closely with a mentor to develop teaching skills and subject knowledge.
- Support the delivery of the school’s ‘passport to independence’ programme.
- Contribute to the inclusive and collaborative culture of the institution.
- Attend and engage in professional development opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records and assessments of student progress.
- Assist with the wider IT curriculum and extracurricular activities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
- Commitment to train as an active and innovative teacher.
- Passion for IT and education.
- Eligibility to train for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Willingness to work on a reduced timetable and complete training requirements.
Preferred
- Experience in IT or related fields.
- Previous teaching or mentoring experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with vocational and A level provision.
- Experience with inclusive education practices.

- Competitive salary at Unqualified Teachers Pay Scale Point 1: £28,342 (inclusive of Inner London Weighting).
