The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a Trainee Physical Education Teacher (PGCE) to join its team and contribute to a vibrant and successful educational community. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain Qualified Teacher Status while supporting students through a comprehensive extra-curricular programme and engaging in a wide range of school activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in developing physical education skills and promoting a healthy, active lifestyle.
  • Deliver engaging and innovative lessons aligned with the school’s educational goals.
  • Contribute to the school’s extra-curricular programme, including sports such as Hockey, Rugby, Netball, Cricket, Athletics, Tennis, and Swimming.
  • Participate in the management of boarding houses and weekend activities.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through INSET training and other opportunities.
  • Uphold the school’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to support student well-being and academic success.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Eligibility to undertake a PGCE programme.
  • A proactive approach to working with young people and a passion for teaching and sports.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • A qualification or interest in one of the school’s core sports: Hockey, Rugby, Netball, Cricket, Athletics, Tennis, or Swimming.
  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
