The Opportunity:
Join a dynamic Physics Department and take the first step in your teaching career as a Trainee Physics Teacher. This role offers hands-on classroom experience and the opportunity to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in a single academic year, supported by experienced colleagues and a comprehensive training programme.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality Physics lessons to students across a range of ability levels.
- Work closely with experienced colleagues and a dedicated professional mentor to develop teaching and classroom management skills.
- Participate in weekly training sessions and in-house professional development programmes.
- Support students through practical and theoretical learning, using modern and well-resourced laboratory facilities.
- Encourage student engagement and achievement through extracurricular activities such as Physics clubs and competitions.
- Collaborate with the department to maintain and enhance the school’s strong reputation in Physics education.
- Stay up to date with the latest developments in Physics teaching and curriculum requirements.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A Bachelor’s degree (2:2 or above) or currently working towards one.
- Commitment to inspiring and supporting young people in their learning journey.
- Willingness to complete a one-year teacher training programme leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Experience with teaching or working in an educational setting.
- Familiarity with Physics education and curriculum standards.
- Interest in extracurricular activities and student engagement.
- Experience with the OCR Physics A specification or similar.
