The Opportunity:

As an Upper School Deputy Head Academic, you will play a key role in shaping academic strategies and ensuring the delivery of high-quality education. This position offers the chance to lead, innovate, and make a lasting impact on student outcomes and academic excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee academic programs, ensuring alignment with school goals and standards.
  • Support the Head of School in developing and implementing academic policies and initiatives.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that encourages student engagement and well-being.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and external stakeholders to enhance student learning and development.
  • Monitor and evaluate student performance, identifying areas for improvement and supporting staff development.
  • Lead and manage staff, providing guidance, feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies, safeguarding procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with the China Studies and Government Affairs teams.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status with evidence of appropriate in-service training.
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within education, with a track record of improving academic standards.
  • Strong knowledge of Upper School practices, policies, and curriculum delivery.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and staff.
  • Experience in managing academic programs, timetabling, and staff development.
  • Understanding of child development and positive disciplinary methods.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children.

Preferred

  • Professional senior leadership qualification (e.g., MA, NPQH).
  • Accredited Coaching Qualification.
  • Experience in delivering extracurricular activities and student support programs.
