The Opportunity:
As an Upper School Deputy Head Academic, you will play a key role in shaping academic strategies and ensuring the delivery of high-quality education. This position offers the chance to lead, innovate, and make a lasting impact on student outcomes and academic excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee academic programs, ensuring alignment with school goals and standards.
- Support the Head of School in developing and implementing academic policies and initiatives.
- Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that encourages student engagement and well-being.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and external stakeholders to enhance student learning and development.
- Monitor and evaluate student performance, identifying areas for improvement and supporting staff development.
- Lead and manage staff, providing guidance, feedback, and professional development opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with school policies, safeguarding procedures, and legal requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with the China Studies and Government Affairs teams.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status with evidence of appropriate in-service training.
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within education, with a track record of improving academic standards.
- Strong knowledge of Upper School practices, policies, and curriculum delivery.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and staff.
- Experience in managing academic programs, timetabling, and staff development.
- Understanding of child development and positive disciplinary methods.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children.
Preferred
- Professional senior leadership qualification (e.g., MA, NPQH).
- Accredited Coaching Qualification.
- Experience in delivering extracurricular activities and student support programs.
