The Opportunity:

As an Upper School English Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the academic and personal development of students aged 11–18. You will deliver high-quality lessons, prepare students for IGCSE and A-Level examinations, and contribute to a vibrant, values-driven learning community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, high-quality English lessons to students aged 11–18, preparing them for IGCSE and A-Level examinations.
  • Use assessment data effectively to monitor student progress and provide detailed feedback to support improvement.
  • Embed the school's core values — Respect, Care, Perseverance, Honesty, and Kindness — into all aspects of teaching and school life.
  • Promote student wellbeing and resilience, contributing to the delivery of the Cognita Be Well Charter.
  • Participate actively in co-curricular activities, events, and enrichment opportunities to enhance the student experience.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement innovative teaching strategies.
  • Support the academic and personal growth of students through consistent, constructive feedback and targeted interventions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A degree and a recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE or equivalent).
  • Proven experience of teaching English successfully at secondary school level, with experience preparing students for external examinations.
  • Commitment to holistic education, nurturing both academic progress and personal development of each student.

Preferred

  • Passion, creativity, and a growth mindset, with the ability to inspire students and colleagues alike.
  • A collaborative and flexible approach, with excellent communication skills and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
  • Working knowledge of the Spanish language.
