Wellbeing Lead role at a special school. Support students with autism and learning difficulties.

The Opportunity:

As a Wellbeing Lead, you will play a vital role in supporting the emotional and social development of students. This position is ideal for someone passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of young people with autism and complex needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion a safe and emotionally secure environment for students
  • Support students in managing their emotions and developing self-help strategies
  • Deliver intervention sessions as directed by the Pastoral Manager
  • Assist in implementing individual pupil plans, including pastoral support plans and behaviour contracts
  • Promote independent learning, self-esteem, and emotional regulation
  • Uphold and embed the school’s vision of raising aspirations and fulfilling potential
  • Work collaboratively with teaching colleagues to manage incidents and provide advice on behaviour management
  • Foster strong relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of staff CPD sessions focused on behaviour for learning and SEND
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of students, acting as a source of advice on safety and safeguarding

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children and young people with autism and associated learning difficulties
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Experience in emotional support and behaviour management strategies

Preferred

  • Experience in delivering intervention sessions or CPD training
  • Knowledge of Asperger’s syndrome and related conditions
  • Experience with de-escalation techniques and crisis management
  • Experience working in a special needs or educational setting
