Summary:

Wellbeing Support Assistant role with a focus on emotional development and behaviour support.

About the School:

The school supports children aged 5–11 with social, emotional, and mental health needs, as well as those with autism. It offers a bright, modern environment with dedicated therapeutic and outdoor learning spaces.

The Opportunity:

As a Wellbeing Support Assistant, you will support students in developing emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour. This role is integral to fostering a safe and inclusive school environment, with a strong emphasis on therapeutic interventions and collaboration with multi-agency professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted wellbeing and therapeutic support to individuals, small groups, or whole classes.
  • Contribute to and implement Wellbeing Support Plans (WSPs) and Level 2 Risk Assessments (2RAs).
  • Provide on-call support, manage escalating behaviours, and facilitate post-incident debriefs.
  • Maintain clear communication with parents, carers, and multi-agency professionals.
  • Enable pupils to access learning by adapting environments and updating visual supports.
  • Deliver interventions as part of outreach programmes and support educational visits.
  • Maintain and develop wellbeing resources while upholding confidentiality and GDPR standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Passion for supporting the emotional wellbeing and inclusion of children and young people.
  • Knowledge of SEND and safeguarding responsibilities in an educational setting.
  • Calm, resilient, and able to respond professionally to challenging situations.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Confident communication with pupils, families, colleagues, and external professionals.
  • Strong attention to detail with accurate record keeping.
  • Flexible and adaptable, able to respond to changing needs.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • GCSE English and Maths Grade A–C (or equivalent).

Preferred

  • Experience in therapeutic interventions or mental health support.
  • Experience working with children with autism or complex needs.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies.
  • Experience with GDPR and safeguarding procedures.
