The Opportunity:

We are seeking a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to provide personalized support to a Year 1 student for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a child’s learning journey within a supportive and inspiring environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support a Year 1 child in their academic and personal development on a 1:1 basis.
  • Work closely with the teaching team to ensure consistent and effective learning strategies.
  • Assist in planning and delivering individualized learning activities.
  • Monitor and record the child’s progress and communicate regularly with the teaching staff.
  • Create a positive and encouraging learning environment that fosters confidence and independence.
  • Provide care and support that aligns with the school’s values and ethos.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development.
  • Ensure the child’s safety and well-being at all times.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • NVQ qualification or equivalent in teaching or education support.
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting children’s learning and development.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school setting, particularly with primary-aged children.
  • Knowledge of inclusive education practices.
  • Experience with 1:1 teaching or support roles.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the child and the school.
