The Opportunity:
We are seeking a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to provide personalized support to a Year 1 student for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a child’s learning journey within a supportive and inspiring environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support a Year 1 child in their academic and personal development on a 1:1 basis.
- Work closely with the teaching team to ensure consistent and effective learning strategies.
- Assist in planning and delivering individualized learning activities.
- Monitor and record the child’s progress and communicate regularly with the teaching staff.
- Create a positive and encouraging learning environment that fosters confidence and independence.
- Provide care and support that aligns with the school’s values and ethos.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development.
- Ensure the child’s safety and well-being at all times.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- NVQ qualification or equivalent in teaching or education support.
- Experience working with children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting children’s learning and development.
Preferred
- Experience in a school setting, particularly with primary-aged children.
- Knowledge of inclusive education practices.
- Experience with 1:1 teaching or support roles.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the child and the school.
