Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional leadership to subject teachers of English and Film for KS3, KS4 and KS5
  • Develop innovative teaching and learning strategies within the English department
  • Directly manage Key Stage leaders in English and the Head of Film
  • Ensure accountability for student progress in English and Film
  • Demonstrate excellence as an outstanding practitioner of English
  • Support the development of a strong and specialist teaching team
  • Promote a culture of inclusion and excellence across all ability ranges
  • Contribute to the strategic vision of the faculty and school

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in middle or senior leadership roles, including Key Stage Coordination
  • Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature
  • Commitment to student progress and academic excellence
  • Ability to lead and inspire both students and staff
  • Experience in teaching across all key stages (KS3, KS4, KS5)
  • A passion for classroom practice and professional development

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a large and successful faculty
  • Background in teaching English at Post-16 level
  • Experience with film studies or related subjects
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Experience in safeguarding and promoting student welfare
