The Opportunity:

The Assistant Head of Senior School - Teaching and Learning will play a vital role in shaping academic excellence and driving strategic development across the school. This is a leadership position that requires a visionary and dedicated individual to support the Senior School Leadership Team in delivering high standards of teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of College and Deputy Head Academic in maintaining high standards of academic provision.
  • Contribute to whole-school strategic development and lead key priorities within the College Development Plan.
  • Ensure robust systems of quality assurance through lesson visits, work scrutiny and data analysis.
  • Work closely with Heads of Department to secure consistency and excellence in teaching and learning.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with pupils, parents and staff.
  • Promote a culture of mutual respect, high expectations and academic seriousness.
  • Play a full part in the wider life of the school, including events, trips and ongoing development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience within a school setting.
  • Strong academic background and experience as an excellent classroom practitioner.
  • Ability to think strategically and deliver operationally.
  • High levels of organisation, precision and attention to detail.
  • Confident, thoughtful and measured communicator.
  • Ability to manage complexity and competing priorities effectively.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching and learning or professional development leadership.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting systems.
  • Experience in curriculum design and delivery.
  • Experience in staff development and coaching.
  • Experience in leading INSET and CPD programmes.
