The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Headteacher (Teaching & Learning), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience for students and supporting staff across the school. This is a strategic leadership position focused on driving high-quality teaching, learning, and academic outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop teaching and learning strategies across the school to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery.
  • Support staff in improving pedagogical practice and fostering a culture of continuous professional development.
  • Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning outcomes to drive improvement and raise standards.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to shape school-wide policies and initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to teachers and support staff.
  • Ensure alignment with the school’s vision, values, and strategic goals.
  • Promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to implement whole-school improvement plans.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within education, ideally as an Assistant Headteacher or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of pedagogy, curriculum design, and assessment strategies.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop teams effectively.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading teaching and learning initiatives across a range of school contexts.
  • Familiarity with the 11-18 curriculum and the needs of a diverse student population.
  • Experience in managing large-scale projects or whole-school improvement programs.
  • Knowledge of inclusive education and supporting students with special educational needs.
