The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Headteacher - Teaching and Learning Development, you will play a pivotal role in driving excellence in teaching and learning across the school. You will work closely with senior leadership to shape and implement strategies that inspire students, support staff, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop teaching and learning strategies across the school to ensure high-quality education for all students.
  • Work collaboratively with the Headteacher, Deputy Head Curriculum, and other senior leaders to drive school improvement.
  • Support and mentor teaching staff to enhance professional development and classroom practice.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning initiatives across departments.
  • Promote a culture of mutual respect, high expectations, and student wellbeing.
  • Ensure alignment with the school’s mission and values, including the LEARNWell framework.
  • Develop and implement policies that support the continuous improvement of teaching and learning.
  • Engage with parents and carers to build strong partnerships that support student success.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in developing teaching and learning within a school or educational setting.
  • Leadership experience, ideally at a senior level within a school or academy.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum development and pedagogical best practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, students, and parents.
  • Commitment to the school’s mission of developing exceptional, well-rounded young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading or managing a team of teachers or middle leaders.
  • Knowledge of the Acer Trust values and the LEARNWell framework.
  • Experience with school improvement and Ofsted standards.
  • Experience in leading professional development programs for staff.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding and child protection policies.
