As a Careers and University Guidance Counsellor, you will play a vital role in helping students make informed decisions about their future. This is a unique opportunity to support students in their academic and career planning, guiding them through the complexities of higher education and career paths.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide effective, impartial, and individualised careers education, information, advice, and guidance to students.
- Coordinate and lead activities and resources to support students in their career planning.
- Support students with their university and career choices, ensuring they are well informed and prepared for the next steps in their education.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other staff members to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
- Stay up to date with current trends in higher education and career opportunities to provide accurate and relevant guidance.
- Contribute to the pastoral and extra-curricular life of the school, supporting students beyond academic pursuits.
- Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and outcomes.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance the quality of guidance services.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Fluency in English and familiarity with the English National Curriculum.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in providing careers and university guidance to students.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational setting.
- Experience with International Baccalaureate or IGCSE qualifications.
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Experience in supporting students with special educational needs.
