The Opportunity:

As a Careers and University Guidance Counsellor, you will play a vital role in helping students make informed decisions about their future. This is a unique opportunity to support students in their academic and career planning, guiding them through the complexities of higher education and career paths.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective, impartial, and individualised careers education, information, advice, and guidance to students.
  • Coordinate and lead activities and resources to support students in their career planning.
  • Support students with their university and career choices, ensuring they are well informed and prepared for the next steps in their education.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other staff members to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
  • Stay up to date with current trends in higher education and career opportunities to provide accurate and relevant guidance.
  • Contribute to the pastoral and extra-curricular life of the school, supporting students beyond academic pursuits.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and outcomes.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance the quality of guidance services.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Fluency in English and familiarity with the English National Curriculum.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in providing careers and university guidance to students.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Experience with International Baccalaureate or IGCSE qualifications.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Experience in supporting students with special educational needs.
