A school dedicated to boys aged 7–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. The school provides a supportive and inclusive environment with a curriculum tailored to individual needs.

The Opportunity:

As a Class Teacher (SEN), you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with special educational needs. You will develop and deliver engaging lessons that meet the diverse needs of students, working within a team that values innovation, creativity and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver tailored lesson plans that support the learning and development of pupils with special educational needs.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of professionals to ensure holistic support for students.
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, promoting emotional well-being and academic progress.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
  • Provide regular feedback to parents and carers on student development and learning outcomes.
  • Participate in staff training and development opportunities to enhance teaching practice.
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment for all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in special educational needs (SEN) or primary/secondary teaching.
  • Strong understanding of the needs of pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create and deliver engaging, inclusive lesson plans.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience working with pupils with Autism, ADHD, Attachment Disorders, Anxiety or Speech and Language delay.
  • Familiarity with the Solent Academies Trust and its values.
  • Experience in developing and implementing individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Previous experience in a SEMH setting or similar special needs environment.
