The Opportunity:

As a Counsellor - Lower School, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional wellbeing of students in grades Pre-K to 6. You will contribute to a comprehensive counseling program that promotes student success through proactive curriculum, individual and group counseling, and collaboration with teachers and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in their academic, social, and emotional development through individual and group counseling.
  • Deliver proactive curriculum and classroom guidance sessions that build character, relationships, and life skills.
  • Provide transition support to new students and assist with grade-level and section transitions.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to develop strategies that help students achieve academic and personal success.
  • Conduct parent education workshops and presentations throughout the academic year.
  • Respond to crisis situations and implement crisis intervention plans when necessary.
  • Manage student cases by assessing needs, coordinating with families and external providers, and monitoring progress.
  • Advocate for student and faculty wellbeing and promote a positive school climate.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Master’s Degree or Postgraduate Certification in School Counseling or a related field.
  • Experience in addressing social, emotional, and learning issues with confidence and expertise.
  • Experience in inclusive education and a commitment to international citizenship.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving and leadership within the Lower School.
  • Collaborative team-player with a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Strong IT skills and the ability to adapt to a dynamic, multicultural environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with international school systems and multicultural settings.
  • Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum or other international education frameworks.
  • Experience in crisis management and case management.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within a school counseling program.
