Summary:

Deputy Headteacher (Fixed Term Contract) – Lead and inspire a specialist school for students with complex learning needs.

A school dedicated to supporting students aged 11–16 with complex learning needs, including SEMH, autism, and speech, language and communication difficulties. It provides a nurturing, therapeutic environment where students are supported to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead whole-school improvement initiatives alongside the Headteacher
  • Develop and implement teaching and learning strategies to raise attainment and progress
  • Oversee staff development, appraisals and the promotion of a high-performance culture
  • Manage student employability, careers and work-experience pathways
  • Ensure quality assurance, data analysis and school improvement planning
  • Lead in the management of behaviour, welfare and multi-disciplinary support for SEMH learners
  • Drive curriculum development and expansion of provision

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Proven leadership experience in a school setting
  • Demonstrated experience in school improvement and development
  • Strong track record in raising standards and driving whole-school impact
  • Experience in inclusive practice and working with students with complex learning needs

Preferred

  • Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience in managing large-scale school improvement projects
  • Experience with SEMH, autism and speech, language and communication difficulties
  • Experience with data analysis and school performance monitoring
