The Opportunity:

As Deputy Headteacher, you will play a key role in shaping the school’s Personal Development provision and supporting the Headteacher in achieving the school’s mission. This is a strategic leadership role that offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on student outcomes and school improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for Personal Development across the school.
  • Work closely with the Headteacher and senior leadership team to drive school improvement and mission delivery.
  • Support the Deputy Head of Curriculum, Deputy Head of Inclusion, and other leaders in achieving school priorities.
  • Ensure high-quality provision in Personal Development that aligns with the school’s values and vision.
  • Promote a culture of mutual respect and strong relationships among students, staff, and parents.
  • Lead and manage a team of middle leaders, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Personal Development initiatives and programmes.
  • Represent the school in external forums and engage with parents, carers, and the local community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of Personal Development, pastoral care, and student wellbeing.
  • Experience of working at a senior leadership level, ideally within an academy or multi-academy trust.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, governors, and external stakeholders.

Preferred

  • Experience in strategic planning and school improvement.
  • Leadership experience in a school with a strong focus on student personal development.
  • Experience in managing large teams and leading change initiatives.
  • Knowledge of the Acer Trust values and the LEARNWell framework.
  • Experience in supporting student aspirations and academic achievement.
