The Opportunity:
As a Deputy SENCO, you will play a vital role in supporting students with additional needs to make outstanding progress within the curriculum. You will work closely with the Curriculum Support Department and Heads of Learning Areas to ensure inclusive learning and high-quality outcomes for all students. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educator who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with additional needs through tailored learning strategies and interventions.
- Collaborate with teaching staff and the Curriculum Support Department to ensure inclusive classroom practices.
- Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) in line with school policies and student needs.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing regular feedback to colleagues and parents.
- Provide professional development and guidance to staff on inclusive teaching practices.
- Liaise with external agencies and parents to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
- Contribute to the development of school-wide policies and initiatives related to special educational needs.
- Promote a culture of high expectations and inclusion across the school community.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in SEN teaching across different key stages.
- Proven track record in supporting students with additional needs to achieve academic success.
- Strong understanding of inclusive education and special educational needs frameworks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.
Preferred
- Experience in a school setting with a strong focus on inclusion and student outcomes.
- Leadership experience or the potential to take on leadership responsibilities.
- Familiarity with the Mossbourne Federation’s values and ethos.
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment for students with additional needs.
