The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality design and technology lessons that align with the school’s vision and curriculum goals.
  • Support students in developing strong procedural knowledge and confidence in resistant materials disciplines.
  • Lead and contribute to design technology clubs that foster a passion for the subject.
  • Implement the school’s literacy and oracy strategies to enhance students’ subject vocabulary and communication skills.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a consistent and effective teaching approach.
  • Manage and maintain subject-specific equipment and resources.
  • Participate in whole-school initiatives aimed at improving student outcomes and staff development.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of the KS3 and KS4 curriculum, including WJEC Hospitality and Catering and WJEC Construction and the Built Environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a relevant teaching qualification (e.g., QTS).
  • Experience in teaching design and technology, particularly in resistant materials disciplines.
  • Strong subject knowledge in product design, construction, or engineering.
  • Commitment to student-centered teaching and the school’s ethos of "students first."
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and support the school’s professional development goals.

Preferred

  • Experience with vocational qualifications such as WJEC Hospitality and Catering or WJEC Construction and the Built Environment.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to extracurricular design technology clubs.
  • Familiarity with literacy and oracy strategies in education.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery at KS3 and KS4 levels.
  • Demonstrated success in improving student outcomes and engagement in design and technology.
