Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality design and technology lessons that align with the school’s vision and curriculum goals.
- Support students in developing strong procedural knowledge and confidence in resistant materials disciplines.
- Lead and contribute to design technology clubs that foster a passion for the subject.
- Implement the school’s literacy and oracy strategies to enhance students’ subject vocabulary and communication skills.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a consistent and effective teaching approach.
- Manage and maintain subject-specific equipment and resources.
- Participate in whole-school initiatives aimed at improving student outcomes and staff development.
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of the KS3 and KS4 curriculum, including WJEC Hospitality and Catering and WJEC Construction and the Built Environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with a relevant teaching qualification (e.g., QTS).
- Experience in teaching design and technology, particularly in resistant materials disciplines.
- Strong subject knowledge in product design, construction, or engineering.
- Commitment to student-centered teaching and the school’s ethos of "students first."
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and support the school’s professional development goals.
Preferred
- Experience with vocational qualifications such as WJEC Hospitality and Catering or WJEC Construction and the Built Environment.
- Experience in leading or contributing to extracurricular design technology clubs.
- Familiarity with literacy and oracy strategies in education.
- Experience in curriculum development and delivery at KS3 and KS4 levels.
- Demonstrated success in improving student outcomes and engagement in design and technology.
