The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Design Technology Technician to support the Technology department in delivering high-quality lessons. This role is essential to ensuring that equipment and resources are in excellent working condition, enabling effective teaching and learning across the academy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain equipment and resources to ensure smooth delivery of Design Technology lessons.
  • Work closely with the Head of Department to support teaching and learning activities.
  • Ensure all tools, materials, and machinery are safe, functional, and in line with health and safety standards.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of practical lessons and projects.
  • Provide technical support to both students and teachers during lessons.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, repairs, and inventory.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in Design Technology education.
  • Contribute to the development of departmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience in a technical or educational support role.
  • Knowledge of Design Technology equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Ability to follow health and safety guidelines in a school setting.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience working within a school or educational environment.
  • Familiarity with CAD software or other design-related technologies.
  • Previous experience in a similar technician or support role.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
